Forget equinoxes and all that. According to redbox' snazzy wall calendar, July 15th is the smack-dab middle of summer. So is summer half gone? Or is there a whole half to go? That depends on how you look at it. Wait, no it doesn't. Just celebrate what's left with some new releases.
Step Up 2

A leisurely vacation to Mexico gets serious — horrifyingly so — when a group of friends (including Jonathan Tucker and Jena Malone) take a detour into a nearby jungle. There they find the site of an archaeological dig where something evil has been unearthed.
Stop Loss
Ryan Phillippe plays an army sergeant who returns to his small Texas town a hero. But his group of friends is nearly split apart by what they encountered in Iraq and by a recall for another tour. Joseph Gordon-Levitt co-stars.

Matthew McConnaghey and Kate Hudson are back at it ("it" meaning possibly falling in love), this time in pursuit of a treasure. When new clues pop up about the whereabouts of lots and lots of gold, this estranged couple must learn to do more than just get along.

So you're a TV big shot in LA? Not to your childhood friends you ain't! Martin Lawrence plays Roscoe Jenkins, who returns home to the Deep South to show everyone just how far he's come…only to be shown a thing or two about humility by James Earl Jones, Cedric the Entertainer and others.

A couple of living legends set out to cross a few last things off of life's great to-do list in this touching comedy. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman play terminally ill patients who escape from a cancer ward and hit the road for one final big adventure.
